Môreson was initially founded by Gawie Viljoen in 1924. His main focus was on mechanical engineering and earthworks.
He rendered his services to the agricultural sector. Alwyn Visser (Snr.), Alwyn Visser (Jnr.) and Johan du Preez took over the company and developed it into an earth moving company that specialises in land preparation and the construction of dams for commercial farming enterprises. The company sets high standards with the latest technology being represented in their fleet of 70 machines, including 26 bulldozers (from 27 tonnes to 67 tonnes), 26 excavators, dumper trucks, scrapers and vibration rollers.
Since 2008 Môreson Grondverskuiwers in association with WP Chipper Hire and Sales also ventured into the very important new territory of “green” agricultural practices and has since acquired a fleet of the world’s best recycling equipment for the processing of various kinds of green waste that were previously burnt. Fruit trees, vineyards, unwanted windbreaks, municipal green waste and sawmill waste are now converted into mulch for ground cover, compost or useful boiler fuel.
The company recently started harvesting and processing alien trees from the water catchment areas of the Western Cape.
The fleet of recycling equipment has been increased to 8x Beast Recyclers, 20x Bell loggers, 1x Boiler Fuel Chipper, 1x Whole Tree Chipper, various tractors, trailers, chip spreaders, forestry mowers, and other logging equipment.
Current monthly material produced for composting, biofuel and mulch exceeds 50 000m3 in the Western Cape, and the Eastern Cape, with 100% local consumption of the product.
W.P. Chipper Hire and Sales CC has been in the forefront of the development of biomass processing as well as biofuels in Africa.
